Our Herd
When we select genetics for our herd, we select popular AI bulls, but we also use our own herd bulls that we raise and buy. We focus more on breeding for maternal cattle that are going to hold up in any condition and make the ranchers profitable. Carcass, bone, growth, and structure are among our top priorities when selecting genetics for our herd.
Herd Sires
Victory was our pick of the 2020 Vermilion Fall Production Sale. In our opinion, he was the best bull to sell that day. Victory is extremely long bodied, big middled, smooth shouldered, with a good square hip. Not only does Victory exhibit great phenotype, but is backed by a strong maternal background ranking top 10% $M. He is a bull we are going to use heavily going forward in our program.

Top-selling bull of the fall 2016 Vermilion Ranch Bull Sale
Ranking among the top 2% of the population as of this writing for Yearling Weight EPD and $Feedlot value index with a top 3% ranking for hot Carcass Weight EPD, a top 4% ranking for Weaning Weight EPD a top 5% ranking for $Beef value index and a top 10% ranking for $Weaned calf value index, this son of the popular Connealy Spur was the $37,500 top-selling bull of the fall 2016 Vermilion Ranch bull sale as a fall yearling.
Produced by a dam that blends the power of the popular sires Sitz Upward 307R and S A F Focus of E R, a long-time favorite at ORIgen, this young sire offers powerful growth genetics backed by one of the largest and most significant Angus breeding programs in North America.

Reckoning was a member of the extremely popular Mohnen Prince 2959 Sire group, in the 2022 Mohnen Angus Spring Production Sale. He was one of the top selling bulls and had lots of attention from on lookers. Reckoning is a big hipped, deep sided, free moving bull that stands on a large solid foot. His dam is a Young Mohnen Success daughter with a near perfect udder. She is a really deep bodied easy keeping cow. Reckoning is a bull we expect to have a positive impact on our herd for years to come.

Leverage was our pick from the spring Sitz Angus production sale. Leverage is a calving ease bull in a moderate yet powerful package. He exhibits great muscle expression, extra depth of rib, and is clean fronted. He ranks in the top 3% of the breed for longevity and $M while posting an impressive +291$C. His dam is a 14 year old daughter of Sitz Upward who is now in the donor pen at Raven Angus. This is an up and coming star who will see heavy use in our program as well as the Sitz program going forward.

Leo was our pick of the 2023 Vermilion Spring Sale. He was a standout amongst his contemporaries on that day. He exhibited a big bold hip with added length and an excellent disposition. We used Leo heavily on opur first calf heifers as well as our coming 3's. The calving ease on him was excellent and more then a 1000 commercial heifers have calved to him with great success as well. He ranks top 1% for longevity and top 2% for heifer pregnancy all while offering excellent growth and calving ease. He's also top 2% $M, 4% $W, and 10% $C.

Basin jameson
Basin Jameson is a bull we have been intrigued by for a couple years because of his impressive phenotype and EPD profile. We decided to try 20 straws on him and have been super impressed with his progeny. Of those 20 straws we got 16 calves, 12 of which were heifers and 4 bull calves. The bulls will be sale highlights in our March sale, and we retained every daughter. The calves exhibit extra length and growth with a nice clean front end. On top of that they have excellent feet and seem to be mild mannered. This is a bull we will use heavy going forward.

Musgrave 316 Exclusive
Exclusive is a proven 316 son that we decided to use in our AI program. He offers all of the great maternal characteristics of his sire Capitalist 316, as well as some added growth and great carcass numbers. He is the #1 $B son of LD Capitalist 316. On top of this he stands on an excellent foot and is very structurally sound. Exclusive is a bull we will continue to use in the future. His sons will be some of the best to sell!!

Kesslers Commodore
Long bodied, thick topped bull with excellent depth of heel and foot shape . We used this bull heavier this year. Expect many more sons in the future.
